Inspired by the Travelling Wilburys, and by the Beatles' early practice of writing songs on the road with no paper or pen. If it was catchy enough to remember for night's show, it was a keeper. This one was written quicker than most, with just the guitar, in the kitchen. It's about feeling the need for guidance from the Book of Love, when one is falling hard.

Trevor Tchir – lead vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion / Stephen Tchir – electric guitar, slide guitar / Pierre Chrétien – Hammond M-3 organ / Michael John DiSanto – bass / Ken Coulter – drums / Frank Deresti – backup vocals / Jay Case – backup vocals

Lyrics

Too Much To Lose

If I could lift a line of golden verse
Something I could rehearse, a surefire part
I’d string it together like a week of good weather
Like a sharp-tongued feller
And I’d learn it by heart

Cause I’m messing it up
But I wanna get down
I’ve got too much to lose
Since she came around
There’s a language of love
That I don’t know
I’ve got too much to lose
To make it up as I go

Too much to lose

I could mimic a move from the Art of Seduction
Something proved, improv reduction
Bring me the Real Book, slip me the key
Forget that raw originality

Cause I’m messing it up
But I wanna get down
I’ve got too much to lose
Since she came around
There are rules to love
That I don’t know
I’ve got too much to lose
To make it up as I go

I’ve got too much to lose
Cause I know she’s the one
Too much to lose
I’m frozen and dumb
Too much to lose
Won’t you show me the plan?
To make her my honey
To make me her man

Pick me out a winner, Bobby
Show me the goods, the Savoy Special
Quality wood
I got no answer for my slumping condition
Pick me out a winner
Get me to scoring position

Cause I’m messing it up
But I wanna get down
I’ve got too much to lose
Since she came around
There are tools of love
And I just don’t know
I’ve got too much to lose
To make it up as I go

I’ve got too much to lose
Cause I know she’s the one
Too much to lose
I’m frozen and dumb
Too much to lose
Won’t you show me the plan?
To make her my honey
To make me her man

I’ve got too much to lose
Cause I know she’s the one
Too much to lose
I’m frozen and dumb
Too much to lose
Won’t you show me the plan?
To make her my honey
To make me her man
